Social experiences
for kids and teens

We are an allied health practice specialising in social groups for neurodivergent kids and teens in Melbourne.

We use neurodiversity affirming principles to help individuals explore their communication potential and navigate their social worlds.

Our service works well for those supported by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), but all are welcome to participate.

What we do

We run weekly social groups during term time in Kew. Groups are 60-75 minutes long and led by a certified practising speech pathologist, supported by clinical psychology or occupational therapy assistants.

We use ability-based group allocation to ensure each child receives the most appropriate content and has the most fun.

Groups are capped at eight participants and run outside of school hours (on Saturdays).

We also offer online Secret Agent Society programs after school hours on weekdays.

  • Our curriculum uses an evidence-based, developmental approach to teach children the basics of social interaction, starting with emotional literacy and progressing to practical social skills for building and maintaining friendships.

It's adaptable for children of varying abilities and can be revisited as they advance in understanding emotions, expression, and social dynamics.

How to get your
child involved

Schoolhouse Social operates in partnership with primary schools in inner Melbourne. Your child can join our groups regardless of which school they attend.

Our intake process involves a parental questionnaire. We will then place your child in the social group best matched to them.

Our fees

Schoolhouse Social is primarily suited to assist families receiving support from the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

If your family does not access NDIS support but you have an interest in accessing our services, contact us directly to discuss your options.
